What makes Manaslu Circuit Trek Difficult?

Manaslu Circuit trek, one of the off-the-beaten treks in Nepal rounds the 8th tallest peak of the world. The trekkers excursionists who seek adventures while hiking, it is the best for them. This trekking route is acquiring fame in the recent years.

The trekking begins from Barpak, one of the villages of Gorkha District. In the condition of the road is worse, you can start from Arughat as well.

In the journey, you should encounter rocky trials, confined steep, several massifs, ridges and many suspension bridges over Budhi Gandaki River as well.

Walking through the gorge of Budhi Gandaki River may bring some challenges in the earlier days and the passing days.

There are the number of factors that may create some difficulty while trekking in Manaslu Circuit. They are described below.

Trek Distance

The distance of the trek shall be around 177 kms and the walking days shall be 10-12 days and you should walk around 15-20 kms per day following a rocky steep narrow trial. This may be challenging for those who are physically unfit.

Moreover, walking along the Budhi Gandaki river following airy trial and passing Larkey La- 5,213m add more adventures.

Weather Condition

Another significant factor of successful Manaslu Circuit Trek is favorable weather. You can experience huge differences throughout the trek from intense sun, chilly nights, raining cats and dogs and brisk breeze.

Trekking in the winter season is afflicted due to the number of reasons. Due to the heavy snowfall, Larkey La pass along with all the teahouses around get closed.

The trial gets, muddy slippery and snowy in the winter and rainy seasons which add more challenges in the treks.

BUT

Autumn and Spring are considered as the best seasons to organize the trek. In these seasons the weather is clear, the magnificent views can be observed and the teahouses are ready to serve.

Altitude

You should encounter the altitude varying from around 700m above of the sea level to 5,213m.  You should pass various landscapes, terrains, pasturelands, ups and downs and higher to lower elevation.

If you do not acclimatize properly, you may get altitude sickness, irrespective of your fitness, age, gender, practiced or novel.

The biggest challenge is Larkey, La. It is elevated at 5,213m above of sea level. We have to walk throughout the day in windy, snowy area following a rocky trial on this very day.

BUT

Trekking gradually, acclimatizing properly, drinking plenty of water play significant role of successful trek.

Training

You should walk 15-20 kilometers each day for the successful trek following rocky trial in the lap of Himalayas. Next, you should encounter several ascends and descends throughout the journey.

You need to be trained yourselves walking some ups and downs, running/walking some hours every day, cycling, even joining gym for cardio related activities.

BUT

Drinking plenty of water, eating the food which is rich in protein, fibers and carbohydrates, having balance diet throughout the trek can easily do this trek.

Conclusion

Such as all in all, this trek is considered as a moderate trek. Although there are some challenges throughout the trek, with the sound mental preparation, having some cardiovascular activities and training, taking the experienced local guides and porters you can do this trek with not much difficulty.

If you trek in Autumn or Spring season acclimatizing in the needed places, you will have lifetime memorable experience ever.
